 Sponsor | Warp-Crow | Sep 2, 2004 7:24am | I hesitate to associate this game with the genre of steampunk because it is really much more of a fantasy game, but those of you who appreciate the visual aesthetic that goes along with the genre might enjoy it. Planescape: Torment is a game similar in gameplay style and features to games like Fallout and Baldur's Gate, but much better than the latter in my opinion, and rivalling the former. The visual style I would call steampunk mixed with gothic and a bit of surrealism, and it's half the reason Torment is one of my favorite games.
Then again, the plot and universe (multiverse, really) have next to nothing to do with steampunk. |

| Astromono | Sep 2, 2004 6:47pm | | Warp-Crow: Okay, I'll break the ice and make the first non-you post - I love Planescape:Torment which, along with the Fallout series of games are the only computer RPGs I've actually finished (yeah, that includes Arcanum, which I really need to go back and play someday). I read yer earlier post about books - the book that got me into the whole Steampunk genre was The Difference Engine by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling - you should check it out. |

Alas, in the past two weeks I have become a poor college student, having previously been someone with far too much free time and money that would have simply rotted away had he not been diligently spending it on transient interests, and it may be a while before I can act on that suggestion. |
