I know of only one really good Hollywood steampunk movie, Back to the Future 3, but feel free to correct me on that. In video games, I personally loved Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura (PC) and Chrono Trigger (SNES). As for books, I'm in need of recommendations here as I really haven't explored it much. I liked The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson, which is set in the future but I would consider it steampunk nonetheless. |

I'm not sure whether Brazil qualifies, maybe not. Harry Potter, yeah kinda. Then there's Chronicles of Riddick, clearly science fiction set in the future, but had throwbacks to the past such as the armor worn by characters in the movie, very gothic, although not necessarily steampunk. I'm sure there's more I just can't think of at the moment. |

I do agree with you on League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, The Time Machine and Wild, Wild West. Even though Wild, wild west was set in the old west its close enough. |

3: I hated League of Extraordinary Gentleman, but mostly because the graphic novel was so good and I had high expectations. |

Take Constantine, I loved the comic books and when I heard they were making the movie I thought it couldn't be done. But I made the assumption that they were going to try to do a good job. My mistake. It was terrible. But maybe my expectations were too high. |

This is due the entanglement of the creators with the movie makers. |
